Wordpress More Popular Than Blogger? Movable Type?

According to the latest release of Google — Google Trends — Wordpress is more popular than other CMS platforms such as Blogger (powered by Google) or even Movable Type (powered by Six Apart).

I have been a strong supporter of Wordpress for the past 2 years, so I’m happy to see where it’s come and where it’s going. I’m also happy to see that it hasn’t been gobbled up like other projects or platforms such as the competitors have been. As a last note, if you look closely at the graph above, you will see that Wordpress — at one point — was in last place for most popular searches. Where does it rank now? First, out of those three.

Press Day 2006 at Google

Google has an anual Press Day, which means they release information about a bunch of new products and there was a small Q&A session according to Matt Cutts.

Here’s a little bit from the Q&A session:

Q: How do you measure the quality of your searches internally?
A: Heh. No way is Alan going to answer that. We put a ton of effort into that. Yup, he regretfully declines.

Q: Delivering clicks to the right people important; how do you handle click fraud?
A: Click fraud is something that Google monitors for carefully. It’s a big focus for us as one of many things that we pay attention to, because Return on Investment

Q: Plans for click-to-call?
A: We will pay attention to that, and all ways to help users and advertisers.
